Knox Brown is a UK artist by way of Jamaica, and he’s spent the last few years cultivating an infectious, hybrid sound that has already gotten him production credits from Jay Z, Aloe Blacc and more. Now he’s finishing up his second project, and has blessed us with the first track from it titled “No Slaves.”
The track features recent breakout artist Anderson .Paak, an artist with versatility to match the unique sound Brown creates on “No Slaves.” It would be hard to draw all the influences that go into the song’s production, as it pairs the likes of organ-esque keys and horns with modern swooping bass and snapping snares. It’s nearly indescribable, but indescribably good.
Knox Brown’s The Searching EP is set to release on August 5th, with additional features from BJ The Chicago Kid and more. Pre-order it for an instant download of "No Slaves."
Quotable Lyrics
You spent your whole life working your 9 to 5
You put your dreams on hold for nickels and dimes
don't you remember what it was you wanted in life?
did you forget about the pennies you threw in the well, wishing?
- Anderson .Paak
