It's been a while since we heard from Chicago rapper Kembe X. Today, Kembe debuts the aptly titled "Excellence" in a HNHH premiere.
The first thing you notice about "Excellence" is it's creative sampling. Guitars aplenty. The drums are spare, providing a simple but effective groove for Kembe to work with. It's unclear which is more impressive, his diversity of flows or lyrical precision. Regardless, there's no denying one thing: this shit rides.
Listen to "Excellence" and watch Kembe's episode of On The Come Up to find out what he has in store for the rest of 2016.
Quotable Lyrics
Niggas rushing me to grow up, fuck that
Three years ago I didn't have half the moustache
And as you witness me and all my niggas evolve
No that it's all love
And if it isn't then you can have your fucks back
Yo when they ask me what's good, I be what's excellent
Burn the bushes, give to Exodus
I'm upper echelon, this shit effortless
Using my lexicon is still a stretch from my precipice
