2016 has seen many artists from the Greater Toronto Area embracing the diverse cultural sounds present in their city. Brampton's K. Forest explores some tropical grooves on his new record, "Guidance," which moves at a steady clip, but keeps a danceable rhythm throughout. Forest keeps a foot firmly placed in North American R&B in his vocal delivery, but also takes subtle influence from his source material. "Guidance is a tribute to my AfroSoca roots and its a track that will to get people to dance and enjoy themselves," he tells HNHH in an Email. Further sculpting out the feel of the record is guest appearance from YouTube star, Baba Femi, who provides a more traditionally dancehall-informed vocal.
Quotable Lyrics:
When you're in range, I'm near
Keep close, no one interfere
You should know I don't play fair
I'm not gonna let them tear us up, us up
