Berkeley rapper Rexx Life Raj is back with a new song, "Handheld GPS," that arrives soon after his Steph Curry-dedicated track "Young Wardell" as well as the new video to the track "Moxie Java," featuring Vallejo's Nef the Pharaoh. "Handheld GPS" is a deep reflection of how Raj and his generation are technically more connected than ever whilst also feeling the absence of real, human connectivity in their own lives.
In tackling a heavy subject -- how technology can lead to a more shallow society -- Raj delivers a smooth jam that, despite its forays into abstract feelings, is easily relatable due to Raj's seamless expression, through a breezy blend of singing and rapping, of thoughts we've all had at one point or another. The mellow production, mixing vibrant instrumentation with occasional bleeps and whistles, comes from Julia Lewis.
