So much new music -- where to start? New Mike Will and Rihanna, brazy new YG, "Pick Up the Phone," and earlier today, a piece of winter in the summer from Yeezy and a team of all-stars. Before there's time to process all that, here's ANOTHER ONE that's sure to be around for the entire summer -- a breezy new anthem from DJ Khaled and Drake: "For Free." The track is produced by Nineteen85, a master of the island grooves, as well as Jordan Ullman of Majid Jordan. Wise words from Khaled close out the song.
The title is inspired by "your boy from Compton," aka Drake's main rival (status-wise), aka Kendrick Lamar, who reminded us that "this d*ck ain't free" on To Pimp a Butterfly. Drake feels similar sentiments about his own manhood, and he asks aloud if his current flex (teenage model Hailey Baldwin, perhaps?) ever wonders how she's getting that good work free of charge. Though Views, in its fourth week on the albums chart, is still No. 1, and 14 of its songs are currently spread throughout the Hot 100, "For Free" could quickly rival the two-month-old "One Dance" as the obligatory Drizzy anthem of the summer.
"For Free" is the latest single off Khaled's upcoming album, Major Key. If "For Free" is any indication, the album will make a splash of Khaled proportions.
