He's been spending a lot of his time recently on the road speaking at churches, mosques, and colleges for his "The God Box" lecture series, which focuses on politics, education, race, the judicial system, and the stereotyping of minorities. Despite his newfound purpose as country preacher, Banner hasn't forsake music entirely. This morning, he debuts his new song "A My," from his upcoming album The God Box.
"A My" questions the use of "nigga" as a term of endearment. Which doesn't mean it's not a banger. The use of an Eastern-sounding string instrument here (an oud?) is top-notch. Trinidad James is also a nice touch.
The God Box drops on August 19th via his label A Banner Vision. Check out "A My" and revisit his prequel mixtape Before the Box.
