Verse Simmonds' latest single, "Let Me Know," created a lot of buzz around his upcoming album, To All the Girls. Just two weeks after "Let Me Know," the Atlanta R&B singer is back with another single, "Never Get Enough," along with an accompanying video.
"Never Get Enough" contains an interpolation of "When Doves Cry," one of Prince's biggest hits. The song and video happened to be recorded shortly before Prince's death, though Simmonds wanted to delay their release out of respect for the musical icon. As the track has now arrived, it's clear that Simmonds inspiration comes from a real place.
The sound is a dark and mysterious blend of trap and R&B. Simmonds sings about how he's had his fair share of women, but still "can't never get enough." The lyrics are smooth and catchy, resulting in a club vibe, but Simmonds also, at times, gets painfully honest with himself -- "maybe I'm just like my father." The energy feels raw throughout, and that's definitely apparent in the video. Watch below.
Quotable Lyrics
Maybe I'm just like my farther
Sometimes I just cannot bother, I got options
Maybe I'm just like my mother
Or maybe I love too easy, but I can judge that easy
