The world lost a musical icon on Thursday when legendary singer, Prince, was found dead in his home studio in Minneapolis. Many fans, peers, and fellow artists immediately took to social media to give their condolences, but The Game decided to pay his respects on wax, releasing a new tribute record tonight fittingly called “Rest In Purple” featuring Lorine Chia .
Sampling Prince’s "When Doves Cry," The Game had the following to say about the song & late icon on IG …
“@Prince was such a huge inspiration to my life from a child watching #PurpleRain til the time I met him at Universal Music in 2006.... I was a fan then & I am a fan now ! His death was untimely & tragic... I'm sure the world is saddened as I was when I woke up to the news today.... Long story short,@bongobytheway hit me & told me stop by the studio & record a small tribute to him & his legacy & once I heard the beat, I hit @LorineChia to do the hook..... Hope you appreciate it....”
Quotable Lyrics:
Why everybody gotta die so damn soon?
All these legends dying, God gotta be runnin’ out of room
How he die? Don’t nobody even know yet
All I know is I aint ready to go yet
