Big K.R.I.T. remixes Kanye West's "30 Hours."

Just before the end of the work day, Big K.R.I.T. has come through with a gift for fans in the form of a remix of Kanye West's "30 Hours," a standout off The Life of Pablo. For the instrumental, Kanye looped a mesmerizing sample taken from a song by avant-garde songwriter Arthur Russell. Ye transformed a nearly unintelligible lyric ("where the islands go") to sound like the words "30 hours," and though Krizzle keeps the same sample in tact for most of his remix, he occasionally replaces "hours" with "dollars." And indeed, that seemingly insignificant monetary amount is the basis of K.R.I.T.'s reinterpretation.

"30 Hours" was a tear-jerker on The Life of Pablo, and K.R.I.T. is a surprising choice for the first emcee to remix the track, though given his unflinching lyrical honesty, he's the perfect candidate.

Quotable Lyrics

I bought a bag of hot fries, hot dog, and a drink
I put the rest off in the tank, I owe you 30 dollars
I had to pay you that, what kind of friend would i be if I ain't pay you back
I bought a 40 and a magazine, of all the cars, hoes, clothes that I never seen
I owe you 30 dollars
