Snootie Wild's new single is a tribute to "El Pablo."

It's been a minute since Snootie Wild has dropped a big hit. He went on a inspired tear in summer 2014, with singles like "Yayo" and "Made Me" spreading through the south and beyond. After a quieter 2015 (that included a very solid tape, to be fair), he's now back with a new single, "El Pablo." This one definitely has the chance to blow up.

The song is dedicated to Pablo Escobar, to whom Snootie can relate. It's common for rappers to reference the late Colombian drug kingpin in their raps, though Snootie's take is especially nuanced. "Despite the evil Pablo Escobar is known for, what I noticed in my research of him is the genuine passion he had for his people because Colombia was so poor," Snootie explained to FADER. "I connect to that. That's me. Everything I do in music is for my people, my city, Memphis."

The track retains the natural smoothness of Snootie's voice, though he veers away from his recognizable melodic flow in favor of some more aggressive bursts of rapping. El Pablo would certainly approve.

Jugg, jugg, jugg
Keep servin' like Waffle House
Bitch n*gga better watch your mouth
