Brooklyn natives Maino and Lil Kim are putting on for their borough and remembering fellow BK native Notorious B.I.G. on the 19th anniversary of his passing (RIP). Maino shouts neighborhoods in the expansive New York borough during the beginning of "I Did It For Brooklyn" before jumping into his verse.
The song features trap snares, booming bass and a vocal sample throughout the track, so it isn’t your traditional boom-bap NY sound. Both rappers are sounding energized on the track, perhaps because of the subject matter. Maino and Lil Kim have been teaming up a lot as of late, recently releasing a remix of Desiigner’s “Panda.”
