Philadelphia rapper Dice Raw returns today with another politically charged record titled, "Young, Gifted and Black". Shared in honor of Black History Month, Dice starts things off by shouting out a few important black artists from a few different generations, including Jimi Hendrix, Jay Z, and the most recent addition to the lineage, Kendrick Lamar. The soul-sampling beat, complete with some traditionally hard boom bap drums are perfect territory for the Roots-affiliated emcee, but unfortunately it wraps up too quickly. Thankfully, the play button is right there if you want to back it up and start over.
Quotable Lyrics:
Purgatory for the black man I guess we’ll see
When a poor excuse for a cop aims and shoots me
In the back, because I’m young, gifted and black
An attack, that’s a motherfuckin’ fact
