Rising young star Kodak Black has come through with his second loose release in a week, following his freestyle over Goodie Mob's classic "Cell Therapy." Just a few days ago, he snagged a coveted spot on French Montana's Wave Gods mixtape, guesting on the track "Lockjaw." He's now back with "I Wanna Rock," which is the kind of deep cut Kodak fans have come to expect from their man -- raw, heartfelt raps over relatively tranquil production. It's a combination that most young rappers can't pull off these days.
"I Wanna Rock" spends much of the song detailing his come-up, and he paints a nuanced picture of his surroundings as he goes. He boasts with a Kevin Gates-esque brand of honesty, admitting toward the end of the song, "I'm not circumcised, but I'm still that guy."
Can't deny this kid's realness.
Quotable Lyrics
I'm first so no skipping, that'd be out of line
Posted in my yard with my stick, don't get measurized
I can't catch no feelings, hoe, I'm paralyzed
So it make no sense to even throw it, how dare you try
