J Dilla's celebrated swansong, Donuts, just turned 10, but even a decade later, we're still getting posthumous releases. The next release from the producer and rapper is The Diary, a vocal album he reportedly made around 2000, but was never released. Today we've received the intro to the project, which, as promised features Jay Dee laying down some bars. The rest of the project will be on its way April 15th through Mass Appeal records, and is set to feature Nottz, Boogie, Snoop Dogg, Kokane, Bilal, and more. As for production, on top of Dilla himself, credits will come from Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Bink!, and more.
Nas announced the release date for the project today on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show.
Quotable Lyrics:
My n*gga get the name right now
My live n*ggas love it like they're name Bilal
I bangs it out, n*ggas put the same shit out
And I've been observing the game, came to save it now
