A few days ago, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis revealed the tracklist for their sophomore album, This Unruly Mess I've Made, which is due out next week, on February 26th. The album is rather surprisingly feature-heavy, with appearances on every single record save one-- features come from a wide range of faces too, including OGs like Melle Mel, DJ Premiere, Kool Moe Dee, and young cats like Chance The Rapper, YG and Anderson .Paak. It's definitely a big melting pot of hip-hop. After giving us the poppy/annoying "Spoons" (not on the album, though), they come through today with the KRS-One and DJ Premier-featured "Buckshot."
An underlying screeching (sounds like a bagpipe?) on "Buckshot" quickly becomes exasperated (and no, it doesn't go away), although it's joined by a simple piano melody, a guitar riff and some scratches from Premier. Meanwhile, Macklemore waxes about just how 'hip-hop' he is. K.
Quotable Lyrics
I used to work at Subway
Seven bucks an hour wasn’t much money
But I be rapping and kicking it on my lunch break
Like “I'mma make it out this motherfucker one day”
I was in the back, back seat of the bus before a bluetooth
Got the boombox and a blunt, bootlegger deuce-deuce
