After yesterday’s Yeezy Season 3 show and The Life of Pablo live stream, most people have heard Kanye West’s lyric acknowledging he and Ray J love the same woman. It’s not so much a diss as Kanye self-aggrandizing about his own wealth, but people thrive on that kind of stuff.
The same principle applies for Ray J’s new track “Real Life Playa,” which is a “response” to Kanye West, but is really just a solid R&B track. There are many reasons to dislike Ray J, but this track just isn’t one of them. It’s a smooth R&B joint in which Ray J sings about his playa lifestyle. It’s a subtle flex in light of Kanye West’s “millionaire” lyric, but there’s no overt mention of Yeezy.
Ray J is undoubtedly riding off of Kanye’s publicity on this one, but he knows it so he isn’t taking any shots.
Quotable Lyrics
Haters wanna know how I feel
man a nigga feel good
and if I only had one wish
man I wish a nigga would
- Ray J
