Tate Kobang is the latest rapper to turn a freestyle into a hit, flipping Tim Trees' 2000 Baltimore classic, "Bank Roll" into his own record, essentially just by rapping over the existing beat. Now he's reshaping the track once again, by calling upon some very talented friends in The Lox, who help him out on a new remix of the song.
Since it dates back from the early 00s, Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch sound perfect over the record, which was produced by Rod Lee, a Baltimore club artist. The record has landed Kobang a deal with 300, which means they'll be giving it a considerable push, and we should be hearing a whole lot more of it.
Quotable Lyrics:
I'm from Yonkers, a rough part of New York
Raised with a knuckle game
N*ggas knock your shoes off
Then shit changed, a lotta n*ggas shoot off
You don't fuck around, though
You gon' make the news, dawg
