KaNine The Don (real name Kendrick Ford) is a 17 year old rapper and producer, as well as president of LPE Music Group. Hailing from Columbia, SC, KaNine already has two projects out, one of which being The Art Album, on which "Ashley's Song" appears. Beginning with a very traditional boom bap sound, and a voice that recalls Nas in his early days, KaNine puts himself in the class of teens who've grown up obsesses with 90s hip-hop, but by the end of the track, the production gets wonkier and less structured, reminiscent of the segues we're used to hearing from Earl Sweatshirt.
"Ashley's Song" has placed KaNine The Don among this week's final four Heatseekers. If you like to have your song or video featured on the site, you can submit content to us here.
Quotable Lyrics:
I'm your African king
You my Spanish queen
We cut from two different cloths
But with this sowing machine
We can out our pieces together
So we can make a work of art here
That will last forever
