Super Bowl 50 is tonight, and Missy Elliott has used the occasion to drop a new pump-up record, "Pep Rally," that should get even the most casual of sports fans amped for the big game. "Pep Rally" is Missy's first release since her comeback record, the Pharrell-featuring "WTF," which dropped in November. The new track was shared without any warning or promotion.
Before "WTF," Missy returned after a lengthy hiatus during the halftime show of last year's Super Bowl, so
"Pep Rally" intends to prove that she's only been heating up since. The beat is made up of typical game-day sounds -- whistles along with marching band-style cymbals and horn -- as well as a heavy bass that helps transform the track into a certified banger. The arrangement could've come from Timbo himself.
Quotable Lyrics
Hitting three corners, man, they playing real hard
My team be with it, yeah, so keep your day job
I turn around and make it bounce liek a basketball
