Jon Connor addresses the water crisis currently plaguing his hometown of Flint, MI.

Several rappers are doing their part to support those affected by the Flint Water Crisis. Few have actually rapped about it. One exception is Aftermath's Jon Connor, who was born and raised in Flint. In addition to volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Flint these past couple weeks, Connor cut an impassioned track called  “Fresh Water for Flint,” produced by the Fr3shmen and featuring Keke Palmer.

“The song is basically about the situation going on that nobody sees,” Connor told XXL. “I lived in Flint up until two, three years ago, so being in California and seeing the way it’s being portrayed on the news, seeing the deterioration of my city, its all that frustration and emotion. I feel like I’m the voice of Flint, so I’m just trying to verbalize how all the natives feel.”

Connor recorded his verses in an hour and a half and got the mix back from Dr. Dre two days later. The mix is on point.

“That’s something no city in America, and really no city period should have to deal with,” Connor said. “I’m here living it to see how ridiculous it is first hand.”

Quotable Lyrics

Everytime I go visit for Christmas, it seems like its more houses that's missing
It look like it's more houses that's boarded
Look like population control, they don't give a fuck, well that's what I call it!
