The Diggin' in the Crates crew has been lyrically feared for 25 years.
The tragic demise of Big L in 1999 ended the crew's reign of terror on mic, as they disbanded in the year 2000. DITC is still a respected name in the streets of NYC and beyond, especially now that the gang is finally getting back together. With a DITC album slated to drop this spring, they return with a new track called "Diggin' Numbers."
A.G. and Fat Joe hold it down for uptown while O.C. reminisces about his younger days in Brooklyn. Producer J Clyde provides the sort of obscure, soulful sample for which DITC is renowned. Placid trumpet, vibraphone, and guitar combine to make "Diggin' Numbers" a useful pick-me-up track in the aftermath of the Great Blizzard of 2016.
Quotable Lyrics
I spit visions of dons in prisons
Muslims non-religious
From the Bronx that be conscientious
If not then them hammers go bananas, yo
Yellow diamonds dripping on the thorns of the crown
