Chicago rapper Mikey Dollaz' latest tune is a banger. On "Forever Be Dat Guy," he links up with King Louie and nabs a crazy beat from L.A. producer Salva, who seems to have taken an interest in young Dollaz. It's basically an off-kilter EDM record on which the synths build euphorically without losing their grimy feel. Combined with stuttering drum rollouts and resounding raps from the two unhinged drill personas, it's an exhilarating ride. Imagine the type of damage this could do in the club.
After a brief hiatus from the hip-hop world, Salva has recently returned alongside underground acts. Last week, he teamed with San Antonio rapper Paul Fisher, and with his new collab with Dollaz, he's dropped two gems in a row. We fully believe Mikey D. when he bellows "I'll forever be dat guy!"
Who's turning up to this tonight?
