We hadn't heard too much from Pro Era since Kirk Knight dropped off his excellent debut album in October. That changed today, though, and it seems the label's primary focus early into 2016 is another wildly talented Brooklyn spitter by the name of Nyck Caution. Caution suddenly dropped off three tracks today, though this one, "What's Understood," featuring Joey Badmon and produced by Metro Boomin, is, of course, the biggest.
Metro produced Joey's recent collab with G Herbo, so hopefully the young ATL producer has found a home in Brooklyn with Pro Era. The production is slower and more serene than much of his work -- sounding like he's softly playing the xylophone, and both emcees counter with vitriolic raps about childhoods lost to the streets. Whether you're a lyrical purist, or, instead, a fan of forward-thinking sonics -- this one's got both.
