Whether or not you believe Freddie Gibbs is on Kendrick Lamar & J Cole's level, as he recently argued, his music speaks for itself. After dropping one of the hottest rap albums of 2015 in Shadow of a Doubt, Freddie Kane kicks off his 2016 with a pair of new tracks -- "Hot Boys" and a "Dead Presidents" freestyle.
Sid "Speakerbomb" Miller flips the classic "Dead Presidents" beat from Jay Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt. Miller's production is more in line with the murky, ethereal vibe of Shadow of a Doubt then the clean, jazzy feel of the original beat. Given Gibbs' El Chapo reference, sounds like he just recorded this one in the last 48 hours.
After "Dead Presidents," don't forget to check out "Hot Boys" and read HNHH's recent interview with Gangsta Gibbs.
Quotable Lyrics
Feeling like I'm Tony while I'm counting cash up
Used to be the nigga that a bitch would pass up
A nigga feel a way when he ain't on the playlist
And if you feel this way then you're on some lame shit
