Last month we looked at some of the potential influences on Kid Cudi's new album Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, an album Cudder wants to be labeled as "alternative". One of the artists we felt Cudi may have pulled from is Nirvana, and his new acoustic take on "Confused" is further evidence he's been playing that "Unplugged In New York" album a whole lot.
The chord progression is pretty similar to the Nevermind ballad, "Polly," but Cudi's vocals are all him. This version of the track won't necessarily sway listeners who weren't on board with the rapper's new direction, but for those who enjoyed it, it's an interesting b-side.
Quotable Lyrics:
I always end up back in a cycle of shame
Looking in the mirror is hard
Some days I hurt myself to distract me from distraction
That's madness fixing sadness
