Tonight, Chance the Rapper became the first independent artist to ever perform on Saturday Night Live. It was suspected that he might drop some new music to celebrate the occasion, and indeed, he performed a glorious new song called "Somewhere in Paradise" and brought out fellow Chicagoan Jeremih, who sings on the inspirational hook. Immediately after the performance, Chance released the song online -- for free, no less -- and it comes with an additional feature from another Chi-town R&B star, R. Kelly.
"Somewhere in Paradise" is produced by The Social Experiment as well as Corin Roddick, one half of the duo Purity Ring. Chance capped off his performance with some incredible GIF-worthy dance moves.
He gave a similarly exhilarating performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at the end of October, when he premiered "Angels." It's clear the 22-year-old Chicagoan of the Year is becoming a huge star as well as an inspiration for all the independent artists out there.
"Somewhere in Paradise" certainly bodes well for Chance's upcoming third mixtape.
Quotable Lyrics
Blow out your speakers, roll some more loud
That's the sound of the reefer, I think my parents is proud
Think my fans in the bleachers, think my teachers need features
I think I'm walking with Jesus, I knew my feet wouldn't drown
