Type Z is a 22-year-old rapper out of Seattle. His new track, "Mecca," plays to some of the same nostalgia triggers as recent bouts of Three 6 Mafia worship we've been hearing over the last few years, but chooses a loop that's more RZA than DJ Paul. The beat is anything but skeletal however, with a warm sub-bass that fills the empty crevaces of the creeping sample.
"Mecca" has placed Type Z among this week's final four Heatseekers. If you like to have your song or video featured on the site, you can submit content to us here.
Quotable Lyrics:
Confused faces
Squintin' at me like an eye-test
Skin as white as the light is when you find death
But you'd better bet I'm staying
High as the tide gets.
