Moments ago we posted Wafia's new single, featuring the production of Ta-Ku, "Heartburn." We're following that up with another collaboration the two did, this time for Ta-Ku, "American Girl." I'm sure that somewhere on YouTube there's a horribly corny acoustic rendition (probably more than one) of Estelle's "American Boy," but fear not, this is something entirely different.
It is a re-work of the single, however, as Ta-Ku says, it's a "stripped back emotional version." So emotional it feels sad. Ta-Ku, typically behind the boards, steps to the mic for this collaboration, singing at the beginning before Wafia takes over. He completely slows down the record, with intermittent claps and piano keys spaced out between each other. Let us know what you think.
Quotable Lyrics
Can we get away this weekend?
Take me to Broadway
Let's go shopping baby then we'll go to a cafe
Let's go on the subway, take me to your hood
I've never been to Brooklyn and I'd like to see what's good
