So today something crazy happened, and no it wasn't YG's head tattoo. Kanye West released music on Soundcloud. Or at least, it appeared as though he was on Soundcloud, with two new songs surfacing under a Pro user account 'Kanye West.' You never know these days, though, it could have very well been a clever fan. We aired on the side of caution, posting a news article about the two leaks to start.
Then, Travi$ Scott Instagrammed a screenshot of the Soundcloud account, adding to its legitimacy. Then, Pitchfork went ahead and confirmed that the Ye account was legit. So that's cool.
The two 'new' records are in fact a bit old, as "Say You Will" is a new version of the 808s & Heartbreak "Say You Will." It's a more intense, more lush version of the record. The addition of female vocals (via Caroline Shaw) and string instruments bring this record to a whole new level, while still hearkening back to the original.
While we're waiting on the edge of our seats for any and every update on SWISH, let's debate the direction the album head. Will it be a return to auto-tuned form? The second song Kanye released on his infant Soundcloud, "When I See It," also employs auto-tune, and Ye recently ranked 808s above the "perfect" album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Quotable Lyrics
When I grab your neck, I touch your soul
Take off your cool then lose control
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Don't say you will, you will you will
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Don't say you will, if you will, I pray you will
