Blacka Da Don is an up-and-coming rapper from Toronto, but his music is a far cry from the sedated sounds of the post-Drake wave. His new track, "Topic Now," is a bright piece of pop rap that recalls the hooky Atlanta scene before 808 Mafia turned things dark (think Rick Kidz), but also pulls from the the skittering Chicago sounds of Sicko Mobb's colorful bop.
It's a welcome antidote to the Xan-ed out R&B we're used to hearing from the Six. Check out the official video for the song below, and look out for Blacka's upcoming EP, which will feature no guest appearances. Also stay tuned for more new music with 40 and Wondagurl.
