With his sophomore album General Admission close on the horizon, MGK shares "Gone" after sharing "World Series" last week.
"Gone" is about absentee fathers, with lyrics that could be read from the point of view of MGK, taking about his dad, or from the point of view of his young daughter. He calls upon Leroy Sanchez, a Charlie Puth-esque vocalist who got his start singing covers on YouTube, to sing the hook, and he delivers a haunting refrain -- "I know you've been gone, gone, gone... But are you missing me?" -- that contains MGK's hidden vow to be a better father.
MGK's songwriting game improving. General Admission out on October 16th.
Quotable Lyrics
Now is it a coincidence that my first instrument was a violin
That my father wanted for me, so we ended up buyin
And now the instrumental that we're vibing to got one high end
And while I'm writing my first verse he called me up crying?
