Golden Rules is a duo made up of producer Paul White and rapper Eric Biddines, and earlier this summer they got the increasingly rare honor of hosting a new verse form Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) on "Never Die". Now the track has been re-released as a remix (done by the group's own White), now featuring the always on-point Freddie Gibbs.
The three rappers occupy different territory, but their styles are surprisingly complimentary. The highlight comes with a personal anecdote from Gibbs, who recalls playing his music for Kanye early on. Ye apparently wasn't impressed, but gave Freddie the drive to improve and become who he is today.
Quotable Lyrics:
I played my shit one day for Kanye
Hoping he fuckin' with something
And his response was something quite like
"Mediocre, my brotha"
That had me heated though
But at the time, didn't realize it
That's what I needed, though
