It's been almost a year since O.T. Genasis' breakout hit, and though he hasn't yet had a release that matches the hype of "CoCo," he's showing strong signs of developing into his own as an artist. On his latest tape, Rhythm & Bricks, Genasis sought to showcase his L.A. roots as part of his rap persona and favored detailed stories about his dope-dealing past over hook-heavy trap house bangers. One of the highlights off R&B is "Homies," a West Coast set-reppin' anthem that finds O.T. sounding right at home next to one of L.A.'s finest, The Game.
The laid-back production comes from up-and-coming L.A. producer Jereme Jay. Genasis starts off strong, rapping about how, during his come-up, he could only rely on the homies. Game finishes the track on his A-game, with the same loose confidence that has given his few Documentary 2 leaks so much promise.
