As more and more classic-minded New Yorkers harden their shells and cite rappers like Young Thug, Soulja Boy, Future and Chief Keef as detriments to the genre of hip hop, there's been a relatively recent wave of artists attempting to "restore the feeling" of the city's golden era. Most notably, this class includes Troy Ave, whose campaign against weirdos in 2014 didn't exactly translate into paydirt when it came time for a new album, but there's plenty of guys who were there in the 90s who are capitalizing on this trend too.
Ma$e appears to be one of them when you check the title for his latest track, "WhenNYWasNY." Then you press play, and realize he's freestyling over Dr. Dre & 2pac's "California Love." This is so confusing.

Quotable Lyrics
Trippin' over turf
One chirp get your whole block murked
Niggas know what murder worth
I lose none, I win some
