Jimi Tents is one of the exciting new faces of the New York rap scene. New York rap has struggled lately to find a true identity, often taking bits and pieces from rap around the U.S. Nonetheless, boom bap is still a style of rap entangled with NYC-- but Jimi wants to make sure he's not pigeon-holed as such early on in his career. Thus, he's saying 'fuck you' to the genre (and flexing his skills at the same time).
He sent us over this "Death to Boom-Bap" freestyle to premiere today, and assures us this is the "only" time we'll hear him over boom bap production-- and if you wanna hear him over something completely different check out "Elmer Fudd."
