DC is a 22-year-old rapper out of Hawthorne, California, but his music is pretty much at the halfway-point between 90s East and West Coast hip-hop. The heavily-filtered, sample-based instrumental is reminiscent of the atmospheric boom-bap that made Nas' "It Ain't Hard To Tell" so special. DC's delivery is more rooted in his own region, delivering an under-stated, but funky melody that most New Yorkers are still to non-comital to attempt. Elsewhere, he rolls his flows into a short double time dips that are decidedly unfashionable in today's rap landscape, which is what makes them so endearing.
"Big Brother" has placed DC among this week's final four Heatseekers. If you like to have your song or video featured on the site, you can submit content to us here.
Quotable Lyrics:
You better move on and get yourself together
Focus on money, get you some honeys
We don't live forever
Smoke when it's sunny, don't be a dummy
Make the right decisions
Like I said it's how you live and not 'bout what you claimin'
