Last September, Brooklyn's Dyme-A-Duzin dropped off his Hip-Hope tape, and after promoting it and sharing music videos for its tracks over the past nine months, he's ready to begin rolling out a follow-up. Crown Fried will arrive later this year, and today we get to hear the first cut from it, "That Chicken."
Although its title and hook reference various fried chicken spots throughout the city, there's some deeper and darker lurking beneath the surface. The track takes on heavier subject matter than most of Hip-Hope, which was pretty uplifting for the most part, and sees Dyme abandoning optimism for cold hard realism.
Quotable Lyrics
Trace sketches for the blind
Shit Webster don't define
But if these record execs don't check for a nigga
For the check I'm loadin' mine
Blow the nine
