Well this is definitely something new. Flint, Michigan metal band King 810 are releasing a mixtape with DJ Drama, titled Midwest Monsters 2, a sequel to their 2012 mixtape. Why would a signed band release a tape with a rap DJ? Features we're assuming, as "Tied To The Whipping Post" pairs the group with Gary Indiana's own, Freddie Gibbs.
Once they break the beat down into something rap-able, Gibbs actually sounds pretty comfortable on it, and Kings lead singer decides to lay down a few (partially growled) bars as well. What do you think of this experiment? Will you be checking out the tape?
Quotable Lyrics:
Half the time I'm high
Half an ounce every half a day
Smoke half of my mind, ambition, and time away
Wonder if I'm gonna find
My place with God, I lie down, I pray
Daddy was a motherfuckin' liar
But a nigga said 'crime don't pay'
