In May, Kendrick Lamar debuted a new record, "Money Over Love," during a live performance at Adrian Younge's Linear Labs. At first it was unclear if this was a Kendrick record (it would definitely fit in with the TPAB aesthetic) or Bilal's, but as it turns out, it'll land on the singer's upcoming album In Another Life. The song, produced by Adrian Younge (who also has a joint album with Ghostface dropping via Linear Labs on July 10th), explores the vintage jazz and funk sounds that were also prevalent on Kendrick's own album. It also has the textured vinyl feel that is typical to Younge. The song was debuted on BBC Radio by Gilles Peterson. Stay tuned for the complete version, though.
Bilal's In Another Life drops on June 30th.
Quotable Lyrics
Drinkin' and drivin', wastin' my time
And I say never again, we'll never be friends
You can bet your bottom dollar, bet you'll never mistreat my kindness
As I say, you can pretend
And while I defend every comma that's on this corner
You wanna sleep in designer, don't ya?
