Jay Starr is a Heatseeker.
South Central-bred, self-proclaimed "Demi-Goddess" MC, singer, and songwriter, Jayy Starr, is a young maverick in the hip-hop world. Not content to be seen or heard as simply a "femcee," she skillfully blends wit, swagger, and harmony with a seamless flow into songs for the modern and classic hip-hop lover. “I pour my heart into every track I make and I’m a perfectionist. I can finish a full song, go back and listen to it, not feel it, and start all over. Every song I make is a part of my legacy. Whether it be a club joint or something conscious, it has to mean something at the end of the day,” explains Jayy Starr. The 25 year old has always been musically inclined, she began rapping at the young age of nine. Since then, she's released eight bodies of work; however, it was her two full-length projects — 2013's “Digitized Euphoria” and 2014's "D.E.M.I." — which solidified the fact that she is a force to be reckoned with. Taking a different route with beat selection and songwriting, and showing an even wider range of versatility, these easily became her best bodies of work to date. As Jayy Starr's buzz continues to build in the streets and on the Internet, she is in the studio completing her next full-length project set for release in early 2015. The lead single "Oowee" featuring fellow West Coast-rapper Joe Moses is sure to be a club banger with its strong bassline and catchy hook. Not content with just being in the music world, Jayy has also been working on conquering Hollywood. “I sing, write, rap, produce, and engineer. I also act and direct. Once I get it in it’ll be a problem,” she says. With her fan base growing daily and blogs worldwide becoming believers of hip-hop's young Demi-Goddess, she plans to take the world by storm with her influential, heartfelt music. Jayy Starr is setting out to become the new gold standard for female entertainers.
