Putting distortion on your vocals is always a risky move as a rapper, and on his latest track, Denzel Curry reminds us that he's not one for half measures. His latest, "Captain Sea Fonk," has him rapping his verses through a wall of scratchy static, and his hook through an even more impenetrable crackle.
Taken from his double EP 32 Zel/Planet Shrooms, which drops on June 9th, this is one of his more experimental cuts, even after the splashy, blown out "Bwoii." Still, Curry's proven himself to be a master of navigating any sonic terrain, no matter how difficult, and that doesn't change here. His skills still shine through all of the chaos in "Captain Sea Fonk," and perhaps even seem stronger as a result.
