After dropping his great Kidnapped project last summer, ATL-via-BK rapper/producer returned in January with the If Guns Could Speak EP and a wildly different sound. Whereas his self-produced beats on the former project showcased his affinity for Pharrell and The Neptunes, the latter's instrumentals were grungier and more rock-influenced, even featuring distorted electric guitar on a few of the tracks. Today, he drops a new one that retains If Guns Could Speak's gritty brashness. It's called "Down Since Birth" and features Conner Youngblood.
Fluctuating between a Western-sounding dirge of distortion and more clean guitar strumming, this track sees Wara honing his craft even further, coming up with something that sounds like nothing else out there right now.
Quotable Lyrics
Okay, shoot a couple verses, put a couple in hearses
Signed, sealed, delivered, right I killed it in cursive
Don't ask me why I did it, I'm just serving my purpose
Knew I was born to get it, that was out of the question
