Statik Selektah is just starting to roll out his new album, Lucky 7 (a follow-up to last year's What Goes Around...), but before he gets things truly popping, he's dropped off a bonus cut that won't be on the project. This one's called "Unlimited Metrocard" and features Your Old Droog.
Spinning tales of public transit that sound just as gritty as the beat that backs it up, Droog sounds like the classic New York cynic on here, lamenting the kids that yell "showtime!" before turning subway cars into dancefloors. He even goes as far to say, "I hope every train dancer gets brain cancer," which is a little much, but as he's a Brooklyn lifer, we'd have to imagine he's had a few too many quiet rides home interrupted.
Quotable Lyrics
Now you might not like him, but can't nobody say that this misanthrope isn't dope
Gone off of Henny and Claritin
Used to share beds, now I could rent out whole floors of the Sheraton
But waitin' for a song to share it in
Far from a good samaritan, but you could finds some merit in the words
