Always one to speak his mind on Twitter, Wale shared some thoughts on the state of DJing Saturday night. The DC rapper began a tangent on what he once loved about the artform, and what he feels is missing to some extent today, writing "Man.. I really wish DJs still broke records."
From there, he argued that the DJ is just as important as the rapper, and that "timing, knowledge of NEW and old music" and "reinterpretations of familiar songs" are what a great DJ should bring to the table. "DJing an art form. PERIOD," he continued. :It's not a popularity contest not a "press play and get paid" grab. Express ya thoughts/ relay your vibe sonically." He also pointed to Statik Selektah and Samantha Ronson as some of the best in the business.

Wale will be heading out on his SHiNE tour next month. He released his Before I SHiNE mixtape with DJ Luna (surely one of the DJs in wale's good books) in March. His highly-anticipated SHiNE studio album is expected to be released later this year.
