Last month, Alchemist & Oh No (Madlib's bro) announced their joint partnership (as Gangrene), and an upcoming Grand Theft Auto-inspired album, Welcome to Los Santos. We already heard "Play It Cool", which featured Earl Sweatshirt and Samuel T. Herring (of Future Islands), and we should've foreseen more huge collabs, but this is almost too good to be true. On "Fetti", we get two underground kings, Curren$y and Freddie Gibbs, over a (predictably) beautiful production from Alchemist & Oh No.
Curren$y and Gibbs have different styles--Spitta's more cooled-down, Gibbs brings more aggression, but, together, they're a perfect match. The beat could soundtrack a mob movie set in the seedy L.A. underground. Gibbs brings his "Tarantino flow", and Curren$y gives us the same smoked-out wisdom we heard on Pilot Talk III.
We've had some big collabs today (Tyler, Yeezy, Weezy), but don't let this one go unnoticed.
You can hear the entire Welcome to Los Santos LP on NPR. The album also features E-40, A$AP Ferg, Danny Brown, and Action Bronson, so, yeah, it might just be the hottest thing out.

Quotable Lyrics
I swear to God my momma always told me there'd be days
Like smokin' dope and pourin' Henny on my nigga grave site
And wondering just who gon' raise my child if I get sprayed
Light your boss up like your pappy and get paid
- Freddie Gibbs
