After a successful debut, B4.Da.$$, at the beginning of the year, Joey Bada$$ has been relatively quiet. After hearing a track with Houston's Maxo Kream, we now get a leak of Joey's latest, "Perception Vs. Reality," which is produced by Pro Era crewmate Kirk Knight.
L.A. experimental producer Flying Lotus debuted the song during his residency mix-show on BBC Radio 1. Kirk Knight, who's produced past Bada$$ cuts like "Big Dusty," gives this production an undeniable old-school appeal, and Joey, known for his cold '90s-era Brooklyn bars, sounds right at home. Joey keeps his raps street-level while giving broader social context to his own experiences. Going off the title, Joey knows, where he's coming from, reality isn't always what it seems.

Quotable Lyrics
No my hands ain't dirty, but as you can see
I'm another misconception of reality
So when the po' drive by, he ain't gotta ask me
About the body that somebody caught last week
I ain't finna go downtown in no backseat
'Cuz perception is reality when Black like me
