Back in November, we hooked you up with "Lake," an icy track from Toronto's Derek Wise, and now he's returned with a new one. "Settle Down" is taken from his upcoming project Mom's Basement, and it was produced by Geoff Wood, who also had a hand in "Lake"'s production.
Opening with some glacial vocal samples that give the track some nice atmosphere, the song goes on to incorporate some rattling percussion and expansive echo sound effects. Wise's hypnotic hook is reminiscent of A$AP Ferg's "Let It Go," and his rapping on the track showcases some nice flow and ad-libs.
If you're fucking with "Settle Down," be sure to also check out "Purple Candy," a loosie that won't appear on Wise's upcoming project.
Quotable Lyrics
This shit isn't peaceful
Ain't labeled an equal
So these haters deceitful
Oh they wanna defeat you
