Montreal native, Wasiu, has been heavy on our radar these past few weeks, releasing some impressive tracks like “BLKKKOut”, “Stereo Type”, & “Physical”. Today, the rising emcee decides to keep his streak alive, and return with a tribute the late Notorious B.I.G., who passed 18 years ago on Monday.
"Gros" is the french word for "big," and toward the end of the track Wasiu raps "rest in peace to the ruler of the east," flipping a rendition of the "Big Poppa" chorus, while the beat intertwines elements of the song's original sample source, the Isley Brothers' "In Between the Sheets."
Look for this track to see life on Wasiu’s upcoming yet-to-be-titled project, which will be arriving in the coming months. Thoughts on this lyrical onslaught?
Quotable Lyrics:
Montreal, the city of hatred
Hip-Hop need a help, y’all need us some saving
So I copped a pen started writing on the pages
Then said fuck the pen, gotta do it like the greatest
