While the announcement that Cannibal Ox would finally release their sophomore album in 2015 was nothing short of thrilling, the fact that El-P would not be behind the boards was a bit worrying. The 2000 classic, The Cold Vein, was acclaimed as much for it's icy production as it was for the duo's wordy flows, so a follow up without that album's sole producer seemed inconceivable.
Luckily, the two rappers have enlisted a top notch cast of beatmakers for their upcoming effort. On their new album, they've earned a beat from Detroit MVP Black Milk, who creates a gritty sample-ridden boom bap instrumental perfectly matched for Ox.
Quotable Lyrics:
Flame on, I spit that hot fire with Dylan
And stay inside that line with crayons
My whole aura is neon, ultraviolet
Come out your mouth, I might get ultra-violent
