We've been hearing a lot from both the official members of the Father-led Atlanta collective, Awful Records, as well as their many affiliates. One guy who's managed to stay out of the spotlight is Slug Christ, but it seems his moment is approaching. The rapper's most recent record places him in an experimental zone, building textures with both a busily woozy instrumental, and some stacked vocals.
The drum programming remains fairly minimal throughout, allowing a chunky bassline leading the rhythmic aspect of the track. Stretched ad-libs that dance with the rapped lead vocals lead to the disorienting experience, which we should hear plenty more of on Slug's upcoming album, The Crucifixion of Rapper Extraordinaire Slug Christ.
Quotable Lyrics:
Swirling through a portal
Shooting water guns, I'm Squirtle
Cup of purple, I'm a slow learner
I ain't trynna hurt nobody, only trynna murder
